Elias Arizcuren can, conducting tonight his final concert as artistic director, look back with great satisfaction on what he achieved with Conjunto Ibérico. AFKThanks to his efforts many beatiful works have been written for this Octet, the new composition by Arvo Pärt being the most recent one.
The commissioning of Arvo Pärt was made possible with financial support of the 'Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst' and the Amsterdamse Cello Biënnale.

The Napolitan cellist Giovanni Sollima travels the world and is incredibly popular on YouTube. His programme choice in itself, with Jimmy Hendrix placed beside Marin Marais and the oldest music for cello solo from Degli Antonii beside his own work, proves that this is indeed an exceptional phenomenon.
